Attractions on Fanø

On the western side of Fanø, holiday homes, campsites and hotels are scattered across the beautiful dune landscape. The proximity to nature, the fresh air and the tranquility make a holiday on the island of Fanø a very special experience.
Fanø is the only island on Jutland's west coast with a ferry connection. The crossing from mainland Esbjerg only takes 12 minutes, and the two ferries Menja and Fenja depart every 20 minutes. As soon as you set foot aboard one of the iconic ferries, you feel the peace and quiet set in.
The vast majority of Fanø is pure nature, all of which is part of the Wadden Sea National Park. So even during the busiest time in the summer, you will have no problem getting around or even finding secluded parts of the beautiful island. Experience the amazing bird and animal life with seals, deer and rabbits.
The two historical maritime villages of Nordby and Sønderho exude an incredible atmosphere and captivating nostalgia. This is also where you will find most of the island's lovely shops, talented local artisans, great restaurants and cafes.
If you are into sports and action, the beaches of Fanø are unrivalled as a unique location for surfing, beach cruising, horseback riding, kite flying and much more.
From Esbjerg, the ferry service sails to Fanø’s main town, Nordby – a lovely 12 minute crossing. Enough time to wind down and relax for a bit. Nordby is a small town with a wonderful atmosphere and lots of beautiful old houses, not to mention the lovely landscape that surrounds it.
