Fanø in the Atlantic Wall
Fanø was an important part of the "Atlantic Wall" built by the Germans from northern Norway to southern France during WWII.
Fanø is characterized by a maritime history which can be seen very clearly in the old houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Fanø offers many both big and small experiences. The huge sandy beach is perhaps the biggest attraction of the island, but there are also a lot of interesting places to explore in the nature behind the dunes and in the 2 villages of Nordby and Sønderho.
