On Friday, 11 December 2026 at 4:00 pm, you can experience this year’s Lucia procession through central Esbjerg. This atmospheric Christmas tradition invites visitors of all ages to pause and enjoy the light, music and sense of community in the December darkness.
This year, the procession will be led by pupils from the Boldesager School choir under the direction of Anne Præstegård Thomsen. They will be joined by the festive Citynisser and their families.
The participants will carry torches through the city, spreading light and the joy of singing as the melody of “Nu bæres lyset frem” fills the streets.
The procession begins at Esehaven at 4:00 pm and continues along Torvegade to Torvet. From there, the route passes through Kongensgade before finishing at Strandby Torv. Small musical stops along the way offer opportunities to experience the choir, the singing and the special Lucia atmosphere up close.
