The starlings’ dance is a matter of life and death. The beautiful formations are shaped by the number of birds of prey hunting the starlings. In the days before the tour, the nature guides observe the starlings and do their best to locate their roost. However, there are no guarantees when it comes to nature—no one knows exactly how the evening will unfold. That is what makes it so exciting! Join an interesting and educational trip where the nature guide will tell you much more about the wonderful lives of starlings.

As we stand still while waiting for the starlings to arrive, and their dance may continue until after sunset, warm clothing is essential, including a hat, woollen layers, and windproof and waterproof outerwear. It may also be a good idea to bring food, coffee and a sitting mat while you wait. In wet terrain, we may need to walk up to 1 km, so bring suitable waterproof footwear.

IMPORTANT: Meet at P-Syd in Ribe. We take the bus to the location we consider best that day. It may be in the Ribe Marsh or the Tønder Marsh. In the Tønder Marsh, we may be either north or south of the Danish-German border. Therefore, remember your passport!
